The Eland (20km) Trail Run route starts from the open grounds behind the De Rust NG Church (latitude 33°29’26.72″S longitude 22°32’10.18″E) with a flattish stretch of 4km through a part of Meiringspoort (next to tarred road) before going up a steep pass on the Meijer’s Rust farm for 2km to the foothill plato of the Swartberg Mountains.

From there the next 5km section goes through an up and down scenic path with some testy stony parts to the highest point of 800 meters. This is more or less the halfway point.

The next 2km is mostly downhill to the perennial river in the narrow Kleinpoortjie valley. From here a path of 2km which crosses the river a few times takes you down to the Vogelsang farms.

A farm track of 3km follows through to the N12 tar road. From there for the last kilometer goes around the town to the finish.
